Environment Initiative

By spring 2023, we will have reduced our carbon emissions the equivalent of 38 households per year - General Manager Chris

Environmental focus is a huge topic and something on everyone’s mind. We feel it is important in this current climate that we do our bit. We have begun 2023 by making significant improvements to our business and have already seen astonishing results.

Here are just some of our initiatives:

A CHP machine has been invested in and installed, which effectively converts gas into energy to be used to run their fitness facility, Riverside Fitness.

In February 2023 The Crown is installing 50 KW of solar panels for renewable energy, guaranteeing a green energy source for electricity and improving the hotel's efficiency.

Smart energy sensors are being installed to prevent unnecessary use of energy throughout the hotel public areas to include smart lighting.

Installation of additional electric car charge points. The hotel already has an electric car point, but want to improve accessibility of these points and in particular installing a rapid charge point for customers with electric cars.

Smaller measures such as installing a swimming pool cover, reducing waste plastic, recycling and a food wastage plan, are just some of the many steps taken to contribute to this huge success project.

Keeping it Local

Working with a number of local suppliers across all channels of the hotel, from local meat supplied from local farmers, locally grown vegetables, herbs from our very own garden and free range eggs.

We have also use sustainability sourced and organic toiletries for our bedrooms and in Riverside Fitness with minimal plastic, that contribute to a greener planet.

Local designers, contractors and tradesmen are working on our upcoming refurbishment as we plan to open our eight new bedrooms this Spring.

2023 Refurbishment

As we come to complete a £2.6 million refurbishment this Spring, we take a look back on how far we have come.

2019/20

We introduced Riverside Fitness, a fully refurbished fitness centre with pool, two gyms, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, fitness studio and changing rooms.

10 Additional rooms were added adjacent to the hotel in our Greenlane building.

2022

We refurbished all bedrooms within the hotel, many of the public areas were redecorated and designed including our reception, lobby and lounges.

2023

We have begun developments on the cottages adjacent to the hotel, creating eight new bedrooms due to complete this Spring 2023.

Our environment investment will be carried out as detailed in our green vision above.
